Cambridgeshire’s Lowland Heroes
You’d be forgiven to think Cambridgeshire wouldn’t need a ‘Search and Rescue’ team, given how flat the terrain is. However the reality is that people still go missing or become despondent, no matter where in the country. While other SAR teams might be climbing mountains to rescue someone with a broken ankle, CamSAR will be found trawling through Cambridgeshire’s fields, urban areas, waterways and vast fens looking for missing people - or “MISPER’s”.
The organisation works closely with local and neighbouring police forces and is highly regarded as a very highly trained and useful search asset. The organisation relies on the constant generosity of volunteers and corporate donors.
We aren’t allowed to show or film a real life operation, but this short film gives a genuine - albeit small - insight into how this organisation operates.
